Reducing the Carbon Pawprint.

We are all becoming more conscious of sustainability issues and the need to consider the effects of our choices on climate change over recent years. Certainly pets are another contributor to our carbon emissions, but in many ways, they help to encourage healthier, simpler lifestyles and improve our overall wellbeing, reducing environmental impact too. And there are lots of ways to reduce your pet’s carbon pawprint. Making sure your pet is only eating as much food as they need is one way – a double win to sustainability and their health. Choosing eco-friendly pet products is another one – simple changes such as always buying biodegradable poop bags for your dog (available in practice!) or using a website such as www.ecodogdesigns.com for those extras. As a practice, we are looking for more ways to reduce and reuse – we’ve replaced disposable items such as theatre caps and kennel liners with reusable washable versions and we also sell a lot of zero packaging treats (Whimzees and Yakkers). Now we’re looking at recycling options for medical packaging for example and we’ve recently adjusted our supply chain to reduce the number of daily delivery journeys made. This is just the beginning of our journey towards a more sustainable practice.
